Literally everything! SMART take care of our accounting and tax obligations like our BAS, FBT and general compliance. They take care of our bookkeeping, and Shannon takes care of our financial planning and SMSF. We now currently in discussion with with mortgage broking team on personal and business lending! It’s the most practical, high quality one-stop-shop.

We were a start-up business in 2017. Our first year was a loss. The next year we had less than $50K in revenue. We knew that our business had legs, but we just didn’t know how to get there.

We were looking for a new accountant that would act more like partners in the business. Our previous accountant was good in terms of accuracy, but they were not great communicators, and we did not feel they would be able to offer the support we needed to grow and guide us to bigger things.

We interviewed three different firms and were absolutely blown away by the team at SMART and what they could do for us. Five years on and we continue to be blown away.

In 5 years, we have managed to reach revenue so much higher than we could have imagined. We have invested in commercial property to operate our business out of. With the commercial acumen offered by Paul and Shannon and being guided into the right operations and processes, we have expanded into overseas markets. Anurika has expertly trained our admin team as it grows and expands. The entire team is very responsive. We never have to chase them up for anything. As a busy business owner, this is critical to us being able to focus on our business and trust that our finances are in great hands.

SMART have helped us understand our financials. Not just our business numbers, but our entire financial life. When you run a business, your personal financial goals and your business financial goals always experience some overlap. For example, if we wanted to send our kids to private schools, our business needed to be in a more stable financial position to enable us to take a bigger wage and support our personal lifestyle goals. It all goes hand in hand.

We now have a good understanding of things like our margins and our profit and loss statements. We can look into our own Xero file and know what a lot of it means.

When we had the COVID-19 lockdowns in Victoria, we had a heap of admin to try and deal with. Instead of sitting back, the SMART team proactively reached out to us to ensure we knew which government support packages were available to us, and how to apply for them. It’s the kind of support that every business needs, but they don’t always get it. It’s been integral to our growth.

In addition, we have Paul and Anurika on our tax and accounting advisory team. Having the SMART team working with us across our business, our financial planning, our accounting and now even their brokers helping with our lending needs, it’s just so much better having them across everything; I feel like we can relax knowing that they’re across it all.

As a business owner you can sometimes feel like you’re running blind. Having Shannon onboard as our vCFO and Anurika and Paul as our lead advisers, it feels so much less daunting. I can call any of the team with a question and receive high level support.  They are absolutely in our corner. There are not many accountants that will come to our warehouse to help us with our paperwork to make life easier for us!
